After years of coping with anomalies imposed by local authorities, many childcarers eagerly awaited the creation of the Early Years Directorate (EYD), with its remit to impose new national childcare standards uniformly across the country. But the summer transition, when the EYD took over from all new childcare registrations in July and all regulation from September, has not been smooth.
