Parents read it too

I have just read 'Why are they parents?' (Letters, 12 May). I have my own opinion on this subject, but being a professional childcare worker I would never air my opinion in such a public manner. How long have we fought to get childcare recognised for the professional service it is. While I realise that Nursery World is aimed at childcare practitioners, I know that the magazine is also read by many parents. Do you think that airing such a personal opinion promotes professional practice? I do not, and whatever someone's personal opinion is on this matter, should we be openly talking about our clients like this. or rewarding the writer of the letter? of the letter?

Otherwise, thank you for producing a great and informative magazine. It has helped me through many courses and inspired many ideas.
