Professional circles

Doing their bit to raise nannies' professional profile is the Circle of Professional Nannies, a private organisation recently set up in Bristol. Founder Susie Matthews welcomes new members and says that to join, nannies must be CRB checked, have a childcare qualification or extensive sole charge experience, have basic food hygiene training and a first aid certificate, and supply three professional references and one character reference. The 6 monthly membership fee gives them a photo ID card listing these criteria, the CRB checks and contact with a local nanny circle for support and socialising. The Circle of Professional Nannies can be contacted at 24 The Valls, Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 8AW, tel: 07932 726087.
