Childminders involved in this are providing an extremely high standard of care. Many are also undertaking further training in their own time, in addition to the statutory Introducing Childminding Practice. The Certificate in Childminding Practice takes approximately two years to complete. Network childminders are also being given the opportunity, by providing the Foundation Stage curriculum, to become 'accredited' to accept the nursery education grant, affording parents further childcare choices.
We should all look upon ourselves as childcare practitioners and respect each other's role. Nationally there is an issue with the decline in childminders; is it any wonder when they are not being given the respect or the recognition for the service they are delivering?
