Rewriting rhymes

As a Pre-school Learning Alliance (PLA) tutor, I'm surprised Nursery World missed an anti-bias opportunity with its mini topic (8 February). How about Mr Polly, he called for the doctor, the doctor came with her bag and her hat, she said, 'Mr Polly, put him straight to bed', she wrote on the paper, etc, etc, which we often sing on PLA courses.

We often change the traditional rhymes slightly as they seem dominated by males, but it's easy enough to do with a little preparation.
