School rules

We lose many three-year-olds from our day nursery because schools tell parents if they do not take up places within their nursery classes, then they cannot guarantee them a place when their child is four. Schools are clearly not meant to do this, yet we all know it happens.

Faced with this educational and emotional blackmail, parents send their children to nursery classes and reception classes, although nothing about the set-up suits them or, in many cases, their child.

When will the child's rights be recognised?
