Service of hope

Nanny Paula Jackson would like to invite people to a special service of thanksgiving and hope this month for anyone whose life has been touched by meningitis, whether as a carer, patient, parent, relative or friend. Paula looked after a child who contracted meningitis and fortunately survived, but the experience left Paula traumatised and depressed - not least because of an attitude expressed by some other people that she shouldn't care so much about a child not her own. 'Childcarers need to grieve and come to terms with experiences too,' she says. 'The idea behind this service is to bring together in a positive way people from all angles who have been affected by meningitis, rather than a remembrance service.' The service, 'Hope', will be held at 2pm on Saturday 31 March at Christchurch, Waterden Road, Guildford, Surrey, and will feature solo and choir singing and a candle-lighting ceremony. For more details contact Paula on 01483 577 232.
