Single parents in Fife and Aberdeenshire will get access to high quality, affordable childcare

Single parents in Fife and Aberdeenshire will get access to high quality, affordable childcare in an attempt to reintroduce them into the workforce. The 1m pilot project, funded by The Department of Work and Pensions, aims to establish whether lack of childcare prevents lone parents from returning to work. Local authorities will work with Jobcentre Plus to identify parents who could benefit from the scheme. They will be informed of childcare provision in the area and receive help to find affordable and flexible childcare. The pilot schemes, which are part of a UK-wide initiative, will run until March 2006.
