A nursery school is being joined up with a primary school and youth centre to create a children's centre within a campus, catering for all ages from 0 to 19. From September the Waltham Forest Council children's centre and extended school services will be open on a site incorporating College Gardens Nursery School, Wellington Primary School, children's centre services and youth services in Chingford, London.

Core services will include a 65-place nursery school for 48 weeks a year, breakfast and after-school clubs, a Job Centre Plus and health service support. There are plans to hold activities for 13- to 19-year-olds on three specific nights a week.

Chris Robbins, cabinet member for children and young people's services on Waltham Forest council, said, 'The sites were operating as three separate units and eventually we decided it would be best to physically join them all together and provide services all the way through from 0 to 19. It was about taking the opportunity of the proximity of the buildings and the enthusiasm of the school community.
