Everyone's favourite puppy is due to make his acting debut this year. Spot the dog will star in a new musical show for two- to six-year-olds produced by the Oxford Playhouse in April, and will go on to tour nine theatres across England.
David Wood, described in The Times as the "national children's dramatist", who has had 40 of his musical children's plays performed worldwide, has adapted Eric Hill's book Spot's Birthday Party for the stage. Talking about how to write and direct theatre for such young children, he says, "This could be the first time they have been to the theatre, so I want to give these children an experience they will remember. It could be the most important day of their lives.
