Position: deputy manager of The Hopscotch Nursery

Why was getting the Children's Charter Gold award so important?

At Hopscotch we believe strongly that children's views and opinions should be listened to, this is why we are so pleased to have our work recognised.

What did you have to do to win the award?

To gain the award we evidenced a number of ways in which we listen to children and allowed them to make choices throughout the daily routine. We also demonstrated ways in which children's views and opinions shape and change the nursery.

How will winning this award help improve your nursery?

This award celebrates the good work that all of our practitioners use in their daily jobs, and follows our nursery ethos. We can always look for new ways of involving the children and allowing them the opportunity to express themselves and their feelings. An initial idea is for the children to be more involved in our recruitment process. Children will also be more involved in helping welcome new children to Hopscotch.
