Why did you decide to go for EYPS?

I completed a degree in Early Childhood Studies in 2004 and I wanted todevelop my knowledge and qualifications. I completed my EYPS whilecontinuing to work at the centre.

What have been the benefits of doing the EYPS?

Since completing it so many opportunities have opened up for me. Mymanager has been so supportive and I was really lucky to take on an EYProle at the children's centre. As part of this I oversee theimplementation and upkeep in quality of the EYFS at our setting andmanage a respite group. I have also become a mentor for students fromEdge Hill University and help co-ordinate a network for the borough withother EYPs. As well as this I have organised events and spoken atseminars in order to promote EYPS.

What are your plans for the future?

I am due to speak at a conference about mentoring at Edge Hill and hopeto be able to start an MA in Early Years Education.
