Position: nursery assistant at Kids Allowed nursery in Didsbury, Manchester

How did you feel about being interviewed on the local BBC newsprogramme, North-West Tonight, about men in childcare?

It was great fun. My manager approached me about two hours before theinterview, being the only male working in the nursery rooms. The BBCshot footage of the nursery and asked me about my role and why I decidedto get into childcare.

What impact did the programme have?

Because of this we have two more male team members at the nursery whowere encouraged by the programme to contact us.

How long have you worked at the nursery?

For a year and a half in total. I really look forward to going to work,as every day is different. I got into childcare by accident - I used todrive the minibus for the nursery and one day was asked to help out inone of the rooms. I am working towards my NVQ level 3 and in future hopeto work my way up to a more senior position.
