- How does it feel to receive one of the best inspection reports in Scotland?
We at the Cowgate are delighted with the recent HMIE and Care Commission report. We have long been aware that we are unique, being the only council-run centre that operates 52 weeks a year and offers parents an extended service.
- What is so special about Cowgate?
Our centre is fundamentally Froebelian, applying the philosophy of that great pioneer to our practice. Like Froebel, we believe childhood is a period in its own right, and not purely a prerequisite to adulthood. Our children can choose to build at the woodwork bench with real tools, or make a chocolate crispie by melting chocolate over a candle.
- What else do you offer parents?
We operate an open-door policy and parents are always welcome to spend time in the classrooms, garden and family room. This openness enables parents to see our practice in action and allows the staff to benefit from the parent's knowledge of their child.
