- How do you feel about being the Pre-School Learning AllianceOutstanding Pre-School Committee Volunteer?
It was fantastic to win - there were so many deserving cases. It was anaccolade just to be nominated. I'd like to thank everyone who has helpedme set up the new nursery; it has been a real team effort and I wouldn'thave been able to do it without them.
- Why did you create a new home for the Ghyllgrove Playgroup?
In 2005 the hall the pre-school rented was closed, as it was deemedunsafe and the association didn't have enough money to fix it. Wedecided to build our own nursery.
- How did you raise the money for the new nursery?
I was chosen as project manager by the Ghyllgrove Playgroup Association.With help from Essex Early Years, the PLA and Basildon Council I managedto get funders onboard and we raised 280,000 over threeyears.
