Spotlight on... Sophie Munnery

Position: Founder of Stardust, an Essex playgroup for visually impaired children

Why did you start Stardust?

I struggled when I had my daughter Maisy, who is visually impaired aswell as having cerebral palsy, epilepsy and learning disabilities. Theordinary mother and toddler groups we used to go to became more and moredifficult. I felt very alone then because we thought we were the onlyones out there with a child like Maisy. I do it because it's benefitingmy own little girl and myself as well as other parents and children insimilar situations.

Why have you had to move the group?

We've moved to Ormiston Children's Centre because we changed from once amonth to once a fortnight and our venue couldn't give us any moredays.
