Spotlight on ... Tracey Rocke-Lancaster

Careers & Training
Name: Tracey Rocke-Lancaster

Position: Nursery practitioner at the Village Playgroup in Bolton, Lancashire

- How did you feel about winning the Learning Alliance's Adult Learner of the Year?

It was a complete surprise. My tutor Kelly Webber from the Learning Alliance, who guided me through my NVQ level 2 and 3, nominated me for the award. I want to thank my tutor and colleagues for being so supportive throughout my learning.

- Tell me about the awards ceremony?

The awards were held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton last month. My prize was a £50 cheque from the Learning Alliance and £50 in vouchers from the pre-school to use at my favourite beauty spa.

- How long have you worked at the playgroup?

I started here three years ago. I always wanted to work in childcare since leaving school at 16, and even got a place at college to study, but because of circumstances I had to go straight into work. It's only since I've got married and had a family that I've had the opportunity to work with children.
