Children and staff play in the Lourdes room of the newly-opened nursery at St Philips' church in Uckfield, East Sussex. The nursery, which is run by the Roman Catholic diocese, replaces St Michael's Nursery in the town, which was run by the Sisters of Mercy and closed last year. Nursery supervisor Veronica Cole said, 'The Sisters contributed furniture, equipment and books from their nursery to help us set up.' St Philip's Nursery currently has 26 children aged from two.
