The author uses a clever patchwork of pictures and minimal text to give us an insight into the highs and lows of kitchen accoutrements when presenting this adaptation of a well-known nursery rhyme. The first spread sets the period - a single vinyl record is playing on an old gramophone. When the focus shifts forwards a quarter of a century and shows a junk shop setting, we feel as though time has stood still. Here, we are treated to a pleasing re-run of happier times. In between, the Dish and the Spoon have made successful careers in showbiz, over-spent and gone bust, raided a bank to pay their creditors, and been imprisoned for 25 years.
