Take flight

We launch a new Foundation Stage project by Carolyn Price examining birds both common and exotic, with guidance on activities led by adults and by children A topic on birds offers many opportunities to explore all six areas of learning. This three-part project starts with a look at common birds, their appearance, their needs in winter, their young and their nests, before moving on to more exotic species. Throughout the topic children are encouraged to observe and find out about the natural world, investigating objects and materials by using their senses and selecting the appropriate tools.
