Take up careers in childcare

Extra courses to encourage peopleto take up careers in childcare are being offered by Cumbria early years partnership thanks to popular demand. The Making Choices courses are being held at Kendal College from 29 January to 3 February and at Furness Childcare Centre in Barrow between 19 and 24 February. The free courses, which are scheduled to fit around the school run and provide creche facilities, also involve visits to care providers. Joan Stocker, cabinet spokeswoman for education in Cumbria, said that as childcare was the 'second-fastest growing industry sector in the county', there was an urgent need for trained childcare workers.
