Teaching teachers

I completed an HNC in Early Childhood Studies last July at Llandrillo College. Within one of the modules we studied management theories and techniques. Surely if we learned such theories at an HNC level, then student teachers should be given the opportunity to learn? I wonder how much knowledge of child development student teachers have at the end of their training. The underpinning knowledge provided within the Foundation Degree and the HNC in Early Childhood Studies would provide any prospective teacher with the necessary background.
