Teenage girls living in deprived areas are four times more likely to become pregnant than girls in affluent areas, according to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics. Across the UK, conception rates for under-18s fell marginally in 2005, while pregnancies in under-16s rose by 4 per cent.
