Telephone book

An activity to encourage number recognition and sequences during role play. Resources

Resources

White card, felt-tipped pens, an old keyring and a hole punch

Step by step

* Cut the white card into quarters.

* Ask the children to give you four or five different numbers, then write them down clearly as a mock telephone number on one piece of card.

* Repeat this until you have several different cards to make a phone book.

* Ask the children to draw pictures of people they might call, such as Mum, next to the numbers.

* Make a cover for the telephone book with another piece of card.

* Laminate the cards and punch a hole in the left-hand corner. An old keyring can be used to keep the book together.
