Forestry Commission Scotland is offering 300 bags of ideas, resources and activities to nurseries in five local authority areas to help encourage safe outdoor play in the woodlands.

Forestry Commission Scotland is offering 300 bags of ideas, resources and activities to nurseries in five local authority areas to help encourage safe outdoor play in the woodlands.

Nurseries in Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire and Edinburgh that have completed the commission’s kindergarten training will receive their bags by the end of March.

The rucksacks include advice and information for families visiting their local woodland area, as well as tools to support outdoor play, including tarpaulin, pegs and a sitting mat.

The bags also encourage children to explore using their senses and imagination with a range of activities including a story book, finger puppets, binoculars, a bug viewer and a magnifying glass.
