Nursery World - The big picture

Children can interact with digital multi-sensory exhibits at Eureka!, the National Children’s Museum in Halifax.

The new Shapeshift exhibition features three large-scale works in which interactive technology responds to visitors’ movements.

Flipdot has iPad screens where children can create artwork and see it replicated by flipping black and white discs, while in Variant they can trace drawings to control projected patterns and compose a soundscape through the headphones. In Butterfly Effect, butterfly silhouettes will move and pose along with children in real time.

Director of Lumen Art Projects, Serena Wallace-Turner, said, ‘Eureka! is leading the way in digital art for a family audience. It’s the only place that really highlights arts and technology, making it accessible to all ages.’
