Chief executives of local authorities and health boards, and chief constables, have the responsibility to ensure that their agencies act both individually and collectively to protect children and young people under new guidance published by the Scottish Executive. The Child Protection Committee guidance is out for consultation until 5 November and is expected to come into force next August. The consultation can be downloaded at www.scotland.gov.uk, with responses sent to hazel.warne@ scotland.gsi.gov.uk.
