The Education

The Education, Culture and Sport Committee of the Scottish Parliament has launched a wide-ranging inquiry into the purposes of Scottish education. The inquiry will run parallel to the Scottish Executive's national debate on education and will ask whether there is a need for radical changes to meet rapid changes in the world. Themes outlined by the committee are: coping with uncertainty, engaging with ideas, keeping everyone involved with learning, promoting a sense of identity, developing necessary skills and fitting structure to purpose. A discussion paper is available on www.scottish.parliament.uk.
