The Scottish Executive announces additional 173m in health improvement

The Scottish Executive is to renew its efforts to improve children's health from conception through the pre-school years. Health minister Malcolm Chisholm said last week that the Executive would invest an additional 173m in health improvement over the next three years. He said, 'We already know health throughout life is powerfully influenced by experiences in early childhood. We will be seeking to enhance the work done by NHS Boards, local authorities and the voluntary sector to provide support to families with young children, particularly those living in less affluent areas.'
