Preparing the reflective account

To be a reflective practitioner you have to be able to stand back and look at your own practice and that of your organisation. Reflection is a tool for self-evaluation and is much more difficult to do when you are evaluating how you deal with people, a large part of working with children and families. Your centre will allocate you a mentor to give you support and guidance in preparing the reflective account. But remember, it must be in your own words and needs careful planning and preparation. The account is divided into ten sections, each of which is marked separately. Sections are split into those that require an 'explanation' of your practice and those that require you to 'reflect'. The differences between the two are important.
