11 February 'Five Live Report - Anna's Story'

'Five Live Report - Anna's Story'

(BBC Radio 5 Live, 12 noon to 12.30pm)

According to the NSPCC up to two children a week die from abuse and the savage murder of eight-year-old Anna Climbie is far from unique. Simon Cox looks at another case where a child was killed by her mother's boyfriend and the social services were criticised for not acting sooner. The programme investigates the state of child protection services and asks why, despite inquiry after inquiry, so many children are still falling through the net.

'Panorama - The Wonderland Club'

(BBC 1, 10.15 to 10.55pm)

In a disturbing report, 'Panorama' reveals the inside story of a global police operation, led by British detectives, to find the members of the Wonderland Club - a paedophile ring that exchanged millions of images of children through the Internet and whose price of admission for each member was 10,000 new sexually-explicit pictures of children, including babies and toddlers. More than 750,000 faces of children have been compiled from the Wonderland archive to try to help police around the world to find the victims of sexual abuse, but so far only a handful have been identified. The programme is broadcast on the eve of the sentencing of seven club members in England for distributing child pornography.
