'Bunking Off'

(Channel 4, 8 to 9pm)

In England an estimated 50,000 children are truant from school every day. This documentary follows two girls at St George Community College in Bristol, where on a typical morning 93 children fail to turn up for school.

'Boys and Girls - Carla'

(Channel 4, 8 to 9pm)

A two-part series about growing up in the inner city, set on the Kingsmead estate in the London borough of Hackney. This programme focuses on Carla, a primary school pupil facing exclusion for bullying, and her troubled and uncontrollable behaviour.

'Poisoned - Killers in the Home'

(Channel 4, 3.30 to 4am)

More people die from accidental or deliberate poisoning in the home each year in Britain than are killed on our roads and, although there are millions of known poisons, there are only 31 known antidotes. One example in this programme is a two-year-old boy who swallowed some white spirit when his mother was redecorating their home.

This first programme of a new series of the science, medicine and technology series features a scan that can detect signs of heart disease.

'The Money Programme - The House Price Trap'

(BBC 2, 7.30 to 8pm)

The average cost of a house in England and Wales has risen by between eight and 17 per cent in some counties over the past year. This programme looks at the problems caused by the affordability gap as more people find they can't afford to live where they work.

One in four pregnant women in Britain miscarry. This programme tells the story of three women and their partners dealing with the emotional and physical trauma of miscarriage.

'Law in Action'

(BBC Radio 4, 4 to 4.30pm)

Marcel Berlins looks at the impact of cyberspace on law, as internet use has radically affected the ways national laws operate. He cites as an example how it is possible that the new identities of the killers of toddler James Bulger can be published on a website outside Britain, while an injunction remains in place covering the media in England and Wales, banning such public identification.
