UK charity seeks volunteers for Malawi children's centre

A small UK charity is building the first-ever children's centre in Malawi, based on the Sure Start children's centre model.

UK volunteers to train childcare workers for the new centre are being sought by the Krizevac Project.

George Furnival, UK project-co-ordinator, who used to work as a children's centre manager in Stoke-on-Trent, said, 'In the same way that children's centres break down barriers to accessing services, we want this centre to be at the proper heart of the community.

'There's a pressing need for training. We're looking for people able to adapt their skills and knowledge, ideally expert childcare providers or experienced childcare trainers, who can take an 18-month sabbatical or are just retiring.

'Most of all, they will need to be determined, creative and driven - they have the opportunity to transform the lives of hundreds of children.'
