Unite to fight Code

Like many other nursery owners, I am deeply worried about the impact of the Code of Practice and about the sustainability of my provision if the Government continues to force us to offer 'free' nursery education at less than cost. Recently I went to a meeting in Surrey attended by Maria Miller, shadow education minister, and Jeremy Hunt, shadow minister for disabled people, and a large number of PVI nursery providers and some Surrey county councillors. Providers voiced their outrage at the effects of the Code of Practice and the MPs are both actively backing a campaign to lobby Government to review it.

There are still many providers who do not understand the full impact the Code will have on sustainability. Providers are being forced to close. My nursery stands to lose around 25,000 a year. This will rise when the Government increases the hours of entitlement to 15 per week.
