We don't want it

As a registered childminder, I think 2003 is too late for the Government to hold a review on the new national standards for daycare and childminding in England. Childminders did not ask for the right to smack children in their care and to smoke in their presence with parental consent. The Government has not listened to the views of the National Childminding Association or its members. We are professionals and must have the same recognition as other early years settings, who are not permitted to smack with or without parental permission.
