What shall we do now?

When children are stuck indoors because it's too cold or wet to play outside, they're likely to have tons of pent-up energy. Playing 'music match' !s a fun, and sneakily educational way to get rid of it! Find a pillowcase and drop half a dozen household objects inside, such as a spoon, a sock and so on (nothing sharp). You'll also need a CD player, recordings of some of the children's favourite music, and space to dance.

Find a pillowcase and drop half a dozen household objects inside, such as a spoon, a sock and so on (nothing sharp). You'll also need a CD player, recordings of some of the children's favourite music, and space to dance.

Gather everyone together, and play some music. The players have to dance as energetically as they can, using as much room as possible. After a short while, stop the music, and choose one of the players to dip their hand into the pillowcase, and pull out one of the objects. Whichever item they have chosen, the other players must now dash out of the room, find an identical object, and bring it back to the dance floor. So, if they pulled out a spoon, the other players would need to run into the kitchen and each grab another spoon for themselves. Whichever player returns first with their object wins the round, and gets to choose from the pillowcase the next time the music stops.
