Why we need men

These days parents sadly have fears about leaving their children with strangers, especially male childcarers. But children benefit from and need positive, influential male and female role models. Male childcare workers who enjoy, care and love working with children want the same as any parent would want for their children - that they are happy, loved and cared for, that they feel secure and that their interests, values and needs are met every day.

Parents and other adults must stop treating male childcarers with distrust and learn to realise that there are plenty of good men in this world. It is important that children see both women and men who are caring and affectionate. Male childcarers need to be trusted, respected and treated as equals.

In today's environment there is an even greater need for good nurturing physical contacts from both males and females. We are all capable of displaying and promoting such behaviours. Expressing love and praise for one another would improve relationships between all humans and result in a better environment in which to raise children.
