- E-learning with NSPCC

To mark the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of theChild, the NSPCC has launched a distance learning programme, puttogether with the Children's Rights Alliance for England. The e-learning'Educare Children's Rights' programme covers an introduction tochildren's rights, the significance of the UNCRC, and how organisationscan promote children's rights.

The programme is available as a hard copy and online, priced at 28.50 plus VAT.

- Infant wellbeing

The School of Infant Mental Health offers a two-day workshop on 12 - 14February on 'Parent infant psychotherapy: the growth of intimacy anddevelopment'. It will address the practical challenges facingprofessionals such as nursery practitioners, health visitors and familycentre workers in their day-to-day work with families.

- New from Early Excellence

Developing Young Children's Capabilities a Creative Thinkers and ProblemSolvers is a new workshop from Early Excellence, taking place on 11March. Professionals working with children aged three to five years cangain experience of using open-ended resources to engage children'sinterest and encourage them to pose questions and look for answers.

Other new courses include a Focus on Representing the World in theOutdoor Environment and Learning about Risk and Challenge in the GreatOutdoors.

- Therapeutic play

Play Therapy UK is offering May and September intakes for itsCertificate in Therapeutic Play Skills at a range of venues around thecountry. This part-time course involves attending five three-dayteaching weekends spread out over six or seven months. Candidates mustcomplete written assignments and work with children on a one-to-onebasis for at least 100 hours. The course takes between 12 and 18months.

Delegates are now being sought for the International Play World Congress2010, taking place in Morocco on 13 - 14 May, with 79 presenters fromAustralia, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Ireland, Italy, South Korea and theUS sharing examples of the latest play and creative arts therapies.
