How much more must I give?

I left school and qualified as an NNEB from Cornwall Tech in 1981 and have stayed in childcare. I have nannied and worked in day nurseries - social services, private, charity-run and local authority. I have worked with children on the at-risk register, and for eight years in a school with children aged from four to 19 years, with moderate to severe learning difficulties.

At the grand age of 32 I studied for GCSE maths and worked my way up from room leader, to deputy, to manager. For the past six years I have owned and run my own nursery and in January 2006 it was awarded Investors in People accreditation. In May I was told we had achieved Investors in Children QAS, but then received a letter telling us the kitemark had been withdrawn.

I have now been informed that my qualification is obsolete, so I have just completed the first year of an early years foundation degree.

I am shattered, disappointed and frustrated. I had hoped for better. Change is good, quality should be raised, but some of us have always striven to do our best. How much more am I expected to give, to deliver and have taken away from me? And can someone tell me why?
