Children of all ages can be affected by parents or carers misusingalcohol. The latest estimate states that 1.3 million children may beaffected by a parent's use. These children are particularly at risk dueto the often hidden nature of the problem, a lack of identification oftheir needs and resulting emotional and behavioural problems.
