See who's saying what at www.nurseryworld.co.uk

I started the full-time EYPS pathway last September and am finding it enjoyable but a challenge too! I had a degree but no experience in early years. I agree with someone earlier in the thread who said that as a student, not an employee, it is very difficult to gain the respect and credibility to 'lead and support' others, which is a fundamental part of gaining EYP status. - Ruby - Early Years Professional Status help!

A manager must be friendly, but able to stand back and administer disciplne to the staff if necessary. She/he must have the organisational skills of a computer and the humanity of a nun. - Rose - What makes a good nursery manager?

They ask banal questions: for example, was our new double glazing 'able to withstand the force of a two-year-old's head knocking against it?'. Answer - 'Like any other double glazing, it can withstand the force of a large man using a hammer.' - Whmon - Ofsted

Ours are named after the life cycle of a swan:

0-1 year is Nestlings

1 year-18 months is Fledglings

18 months-2 years is Cygnets

2-3 years is Swans.

Then our pre-schools are just Kindergarten 1 and 2.

I think they're quite sweet.
