Pitfall to a degree

Recently I completed my CACHE Diploma in Nursery Nursing. I feel proud and privileged to have a professional award and have decided to further my career. After arduous enquiries and being turned down by several universities, I finally managed to convince my local university of the content and depth of the course I had studied. As a result, I am now looking forward to beginning a three-year BSc degree programme to train to become a midwife.

Nursery nurses need to be aware of the progression available once they have completed the CACHE diploma. But while employers now recognise the variety of childcare courses available and what level the qualifications offer, many universities are not as aware. They still refer back to the NNEB, which is not an acceptable entry to higher education.
