Spotlight on ... Charmaine Hogg

28 November 2011

Name: Charmaine Hogg

Position: Early years officer at Bonybridge Primary Nursery in Falkirk, Scotland

- How did you feel when you learned you had been chosen as a finalist in the Scottish Modern Apprenticeships Award, under the category of Service Apprentice of the Year?

I only found out a few weeks ago and was shocked to learn I had not only been nominated for the award by my mentor, but chosen as a finalist. I am one of three finalists for this award, open to the whole of Scotland.

- Where is the award ceremony being held?

The Scottish Modern Apprenticeships Awards 2011 are being held at the Glasgow Science Centre at the beginning of December. I am taking two members of staff with me to the awards ceremony in the evening.

- What attracted you to a job in childcare?

I'm one of eight children, so have always had a caring role. Working with the children at the nursery, in particular those with additional needs, is very rewarding. I hope to carry on working at the nursery now that I have finished my apprenticeship and am fully qualified.
