Tops Day Nurseries, which operates settings in Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire, has acquired a new nursery in Gillingham, Dorset.

The acquisition of Baby Grows Day Nursery brings the total number of settings owned by Tops Day Nurseries to 16, offering more than 2,000 childcare places.

On their first day as the new owners of Baby Grows Day Nursery, which was established in 2005, Tops Day Nurseries received a visit from Ofsted, who awarded the setting a good rating.

The nursery group, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, has plans to re-brand and re-name the setting to Tops Gillingham later down the line.

Cheryl Hadland, managing director of Tops Day Nurseries, said, ‘Baby Grows Day Nursery is a lovely childcare facility, with a particularly strong and caring staff team. We are pleased to welcome staff, parents and children into the Tops family.

‘To receive a visit from Ofsted on our first day was nerve-wracking, but we are delighted with the result. It just goes to show that Baby Grows is a happy and well-run nursery.’

Sallie Wills, manager of Baby Grows Nursery, said, ‘The staff are all very excited to become part of Tops Day Nurseries. We are already seeing the benefits, with greater support with our parent communications, more resources and technology and the wealth of experience and knowledge Tops has to offer.’

Last year, Tops Day Nurseries launched a cooking school and forest school.

Through the cooking school children can take part in weekly cooking workshops where they can learn about the importance of good nutrition, where food comes from and how to make a number of dishes.
