Nurseries know that paying for childcare is a struggle for many parents and do their best to keep any increases in check.

What many media reports about the costs of childcare fail to recognise is the often complex reasons behind rises in fees, and the fact that if nurseries do not charge sufficient fees, they can be putting their own sustainability at risk.

How childcare can support family life is a key consideration for all political parties, and NDNA is working to positively influence manifestos. Of course, all three major parties will want to see both increased affordability and quality for parents, but the vision needs to be supported with the right funding mechanisms and investment levels.
