The funding comes from the capital grant which has been given to localauthorities to spend on improving the quality of the learningenvironment of settings that deliver the EYFS (News, 26 November2007).
The six early years settings are the first wave of large projectsselected by Oxfordshire County Council to receive a portion of the7.7m funding from the DCSF.
Maggie Smith, Oxfordshire County Council's strategic lead for EarlyYears, said, 'The money will be used to help ensure that there areenough early years places in Oxfordshire and replace buildings that areunsuitable or in poor condition.'
For Clanfield Pre-school, near Bampton, an award of up to 200,000means the pre-school, which takes 26 children, will be able to move outof its present home in a church hall to a permanent building in thegrounds of Clanfield School.
