The Woodland Trust's website, www.naturedetecives.org.uk, is offering free, downloadable, nature-based activities for nurseries, childminders and parents to encourage children to explore the natural world.
The Spring play booklet contains a range of activities and ideas for things to do outdoors including the bird nest challenge, the texture scavenger hunt, an 'animal tracks in the mud' guide and more.
Included in the 'top-ten downloads' is the 'woodland log booklet', with space to draw and note down the creepy crawlies children find. Also available is the creepy crawlies spotter sheet, which provides a tick list of bugs young nature detectives can look out for, a 'weather diary' and colour bingo cards.
