A right to make noise

I was deeply saddened after reading 'Our nursery is on the losing side of the law' (Letter of the week, 10 May). What has our society come to when our neighbours turn out to be our enemy? What has happened to tolerance - does it no longer exist?

What has our society come to when our neighbours turn out to be our enemy? What has happened to tolerance - does it no longer exist?

Are we now going to have people who live next to or near our schools taking head teachers and local authorities to court in similar cases? I hope not, as this will have damaging and long-lasting results for our future generations.

I simply cannot understand how anyone of reasonable intelligence in today's world can take it upon themselves to complain about the noise from little children. It is a child's right to be able to make a noise from the day of birth. It is up to the adults caring for children to support and implement appropriate behaviour. From the letter it sounds as if every attempt was made by the nursery to diminish noise levels as much as humanly possible, while taking into account the age group of children.
