Blessed with common sense, the ability to select good professional advisers and excellent support staff, but no business acumen, Linda's first foray into the world of business was a nursery class run from her house in Stratford-Upon-Avon with three friends. The fledgling enterprise flourished and she developed it to meet demand. Cygnets Education and Childcare now runs two nurseries and provides wraparound care with an out-of- school club, baby unit and holiday scheme.
Linda says, 'I am an accidental businesswoman. I trained as a teacher. When I had my own children I couldn't find anywhere I liked. Egged on by friends, we decided to open our own nursery class. The idea was to keep going until the children went to school and then fold.
