Assistants' rights

I am studying a CACHE Diploma in Child Care and it involves day placements in a nursery and a Primary One setting. Having seen for myself the amount of work classroom assistants undertake I think they should be seen as professionals, not just temporary helpers. The Government says every child is entitled to an education suiting their needs and development. It is the classroom assistant who provides most of this. The Government should give classroom assistants the rights they deserve. Even my tutors agree that the amount of knowledge we learn is sometimes more detailed than that of the teachers.
